Men Who Scrub have no Microbeads in their products

The New South Wales Environment Protection Authority (EPA) has issued compliance notices to six cosmetics companies after testing revealed the presence of banned microbeads in nine personal care products, including facial scrubs and exfoliants. The affected products have been ordered off shelves across the state.
THE DETAILS Brands named in the enforcement action include Aesthetics Skincare, Coles Group, Frostbland, JMSR Australia, McPherson’s Consumer Products, and Natio. Products cited include Alya Skin Pomegranate Facial Scrub, KOi for Men Cleansing Face Scrub, and Dr LeWinn’s Gentle Exfoliant.
The EPA said the findings mark one of the first regulatory crackdowns globally on the sale of products containing microbeads, including those made from so-called bioplastics such as polylactic acid (PLA) and cellulose acetate, which still fall under the legal definition of plastic.
The action underscores renewed scrutiny of microplastics in cosmetics as regulators move to enforce environmental protection laws and close loopholes left by voluntary industry measures. The crackdown reflects increasing scientific concern over the persistence of microplastics in ecosystems and potential human exposure pathways.
